Richard Christy Jammed With Coheed and Cambria

A few weeks back, I thought I wasn’t going to regret skipping Coheed and Cambria’s show at Saint Vitus here in New York, but when I awoke the following morning to Instagrams and FB posts showing that one of my all-time favorite metal drummers Richard Christy (the Howard Stern Show, The Sound of Perseverance-era Death, Iced Earth) had joined the band onstage for some tunes.

Luckily for us, we live in the Internet, and multi-cam footage eventually makes it online. You can check it out below, along with this snippet of Richard’s report on the Stern show website, which reminded me of one of the grosser things about this dude:

I first heard Coheed and Cambria in 2004 on K-Rock when I first started working for the Howard Stern Show. The song was “A Favor House Atlantic” and I was immediately hooked. I bought the album “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth” and became a massive fan.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that 11 years later I would be playing that same song with them on stage in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at St. Vitus Bar (a killer heavy metal bar that I love which also happens to be walking distance from my apartment). I’ve become friends with the band since then, and I have been through more than a few diapers at their shows (something I wear so that I don’t have to use the restroom and miss any songs, since all of their songs rule!).
