UK-based post-blackened hardcore act Svalbard are a band on the grind, as they recently announced their next UK 2021 tour and released a new music video! And now, they’ve made their way over to us with this exclusive playthrough by drummer Mark Lilley for their track “Silent Restraint”, only right here, on Gear Gods!
As if we weren’t already impressed enough by Mark’s playing, “Silent Restraint”, unlike the title may suggest, is a constant barrage of intensity, so the fact that he has enough stamina to keep this song moving forward as naturally as he does only sweetens the deal. His top-notch performance is also equally fun-as-hell to watch, so we can guarantee you’re in for a treat with this one.
“Silent Restraint is a favorite from the album, the drum patterns and quick changes between sections are really fun to play.”
Mark Lilley
And as for the gear, here’s what Mark is rocking:
- Meinl 22″ Crash, 20″ crash, 18″ Trash China, 24″ Ride
- Tama Metalworks snare
- 12″, 14″, 16″ toms (Sonor)
- 22″ bass drum (Sonor)
If you want to catch Svalbard live at some point, you can find their (hopefully) upcoming UK tour dates here, as well as pick up some merch and peeps their socials.
