Check out this demo of the upcoming Ola Englund (Feared, The Haunted, Six Feet Under) signature series, called the Solar. It’s the newest addition to Washburn’s line of Parallaxe guitars. The one he’s playing features an Evertune bridge, Seymour Duncan pickups (SH-1 and SH-14), and a CRAZY sexy neck no-joint (a common feature on neck-throughs, but this one is a set neck. Interesting…). It also has some cool contours on either side of the neck, presumably for better upper-fret access (although the Majesty will not be outdone in that category) but they’re probably just for make sexy lookings. They apparently are also built with the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, which I have looked into several times now and still don’t really understand, but apparently eliminates weird intonation issues (ever noticed that an open position A chord always sounds like shit?).
I would not previously have pegged Washburn as a company that would be at the forefront of metal guitars, but with their manufacturing of .strandberg*‘s production line and now this, I’m beginning to see them in a whole new light.
More info is promised to be forthcoming at the Washburn Parallaxe Facebook page here.
