Electro-Harmonix Doubles Down on the Guitar Organ Pedal with the C9

It’s been long known that Electro-Harmonix are the mad geniuses of the pedal world. While other manufactures are sitting around thinking “what if this Tube Screamer clone had two boost modes?” EHX are all “dude, what if we could make a guitar sound like an organ?” And they did it, by god. And it sounded surprisingly great.

But that original B9 pedal may not have been quite enough organ for you. Maybe you just crave organs Hannibal Lecter with a bad case of the munchies. Well now your strange addiction can finally be sated: behold, the C9 Organ Machine. It’s, well it’s a lot like the B9 in that it does some uncanny organ impersonations. Yet it assumes the identity of different models, for you lunatics out there who thought “well this is good but what I could REALLY go for is a replica of a Clavioline.”

What do you think? Could you find a use for this in your rig? And if so, did you already pick up the B9? Could you foresee having a second organ sim taking up pedal real estate? Personally I could see choosing the C9 over the B9 because only one of these has a “prog” setting, so it’s kind of a no-brainer. Plus, the C9 has a Mellotron preset, so I can finally do a live cover of “In the Court of the Crimson King” in all of its glory.
