I don’t know if you’ve picked up on this tip, but the Animals as Leaders are pretty good at their instruments. I mean, they’ve noticed it. But yeah, you probably have an inkling of the notion. So if you’re one of those drummers with sub-Matt Gartska chops, which is I’m sorry to say the group that you’re almost definitely in, perhaps a few lessons from the man himself would be of use.
Matt’s offering three tutorial videos on his website, and fear not mediocre mortals because they’re all designed to be approachable for intermediate, if not beginner, percussionists. The subjects covered are “Chopz,” “Loopz,” and “Permutation.” So there you go, an immediate self-esteem boost for you, before you even watch a second of footage. Matt might be able to play circles around you, but hopefully you’re not the one tacking ironic Z’s at the ends of your words.
