The newest emotional lift in my life is Longmont Potion Castle, a weirdo dude from Colorado who’s been making prank phone calls since the 1980’s and releasing them as albums packed with really sick metal interludes (sometimes in splits with bands like Hatebeak). You need to go on YouTube and check some of them out – trust me, I’m not someone who tells people to “check this out” lightly.
One of my favorites is when he called a Guitar Center to complain about a bag of blueberries that he found inside a recently-purchased Fender. This is a phenomenal call – at one point he even patches in Alex Trebek – that hits home for me recently after a nightmare month of dealing with my local Guitar Center’s techs.
