One-Man 9-String MESHUGGAH Cover Is N-V-T-S Nuts

The 9 string guitar evokes a variety of strong emotional responses from people (For a more in-depth discussion of this, check out my editorial Why Does More Strings or New Things = Moral Outrage?). But we need to be honest about why that is – it’s either that you feel insecure your inability to keep up with a changing world, or you don’t think someone should be able to play something like that (and either they can’t, or you can’t, or you both can’t, which for some stupid reason makes you angry).

But here’s the guy who is here to show the world how to properly use a 9 string. Josh Seguin of PDP has been on Gear Gods before, once for his insanely incendiary performance at Aristides Day which I highly recommend you watch. But this is a whole new level of crazy – in this video, he plays guitar, bass, drums, and does vocals for Meshuggah’s Stengah, which he has transposed down a fourth to perform on his Ibanez 9-string.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
