On what might be the strangest/coolest/most terrifying installment of Find of the Week, we’ve found basically the most metal piece of gear out there: this hand-built guitar from an actual skeleton.

Basically, a man who goes by the online name of Prince Midnight attached various guitar components to the rendered skeleton of his deceased Uncle Filip. Wow, brand new sentence right there! Anyway, the “Skelecaster” was created as a tribute to the man who introduced Prince to the wonders of heavy metal, and if there’s a more metal way of honoring your idols, we haven’t heard it.

From Prince:

“So, I got the box of bones from Greece and didn’t know what to do at first. Bury them? Cremate them? Put them in the attic? All seemed like poor ways to memorialize someone who got me into heavy metal. So, I decided to turn Uncle Filip into a guitar, which proved to be challenging. I did a lot of research and no one has ever made a guitar out of a skeleton. So, I did it. I started out consulting with two guys in Dean Guitars’ woodshop in Tampa but they got cold feet. Anyways, now Uncle Filip can shred for all eternity. That’s how he would want it. I’m super proud of the project and how it serves to honor him, his life, and his influence on me.”

But how does it sound? Listen for yourself, below:

Wow, it’s not every day you come across something as equally inspiring and strange as this, but we are here for it. And even though Uncle Filip has transcended into the next realm of being, his message of heavy metal is as clear as ever and we’re happy to spread the good word.
