Join The Drumception Challenge Powered By Superior Drummer 3 and Dirk Verbeuren Of MEGADETH

Drumception is back!

After last year’s highly successful series that saw Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier matched up with guitarists Jason Suecof (featuring Marty Friedman), Wes Hauch (Black Crown Initiate), Justin McKinney (The Faceless, The Zenith Passage), Brody Uttley (Rivers of Nihil), Scott Carstairs (Fallujah), Chris Broderick (Act of Defiance) and Beau Burchell (Saosin), we’ve partnered with Toontrack once again for a new iteration of the series that’s going to be bigger and better than ever.

Hot on the heels of the release of Superior Drummer 3, the world’s flagship drum programming software, Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren wrote and recorded a completely original song only on the drums. We then sent Dirk’s drum track to five different guitarists — Brendon Small (Dethklok, Galaktikon), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy), Brandon Ellis (The Black Dahlia Murder) and Reba Meyers (Code Orange) — and asked them each to write their own song on top of it. We’ll be sharing all of those finished tracks with the world throughout October and November.

But that’s only half the fun: as we did last year, we’re opening up Drumception to the public! Simply download Dirk’s drum track RIGHT HERE, record your own song over it, upload it to the streaming platform of your choice (Soundcloud, YouTube, etc. — do not submit download links!!) and submit it using the entry form below. All instruments are fair game — guitars, bass, keys, saxophone, cowbell — although no vocals are allowed. Dirk himself will sort through all the entries and choose his favorite at the end of November. The deadline to enter is 11:59pm EST on Thursday, November 30th.

The prizes are as follows: one grand prize winner will receive Superior Drummer 3, The Rock Foundry SDX, The Metal Foundry SDX and The Progressive Foundry (the entire ‘Foundry’ suite), while two runners up will each receive a copy of EZdrummer 2 and the Metal Machine EZX pack.

Superior Drummer 3 is not required for entry, although for those of you inclined to pick it up we’ll be releasing a series of tutorials throughout October and November on how to get the most out of the latest version of the groundbreaking drum programming software package. Stay tuned to Gear Gods’ YouTube channel for those.

Here’s a special welcome message from Dirk. Happy riffing!
