ANIMANIACS Goes METAL! Cartoon Theme Song Shred Guitar

As a kid growing up in the 90’s, I was a tad oblivious to pop culture. I wasn’t the most observant of children, and my parents limited my TV screen time pretty strictly. So I got a lot of my pop culture references from the only place I could – the manic comic stylings of Animaniacs!

So this past week, upon hearing that Animaniacs was now streaming on Netflix, I binge-watched a bit and decided that this called for a celebration of sorts. The theme song for this cartoon is nothing short of epic, with a soaring Lydian melody, massive moving key changes, cool little chromatic lines, and a groove that’s just begging for thundering power metal drums – how could I resist? I grabbed my guitar and got to work.

I always felt that Yakko, Wakko, and Dot were some of the best absurdist comedians in the business – they have this nihilistic bent that I think maybe influenced me juuuuust a bit to much.

So here’s my Animaniacs theme song metal cover – hope you like it!

I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
