Ask a Producer: Phase Relationships Between Multiple Microphones

One of the most common, misunderstood tools in an engineer’s toolbox is how to record a guitar amp with multiple microphones. If done properly, you can really round out your guitar sound – by using multiple microphones with different sonic qualities on the same amplifier – without having to re-track or use a different amp.
