This week we’ve brought you many an opinion on overdrives – which to use, how to use them, when to use them – and it’s been mostly advice from engineers. But what about the players?
So we’re bringing you a bit of advice from two metallers with very different styles who use them in essentially the same way – more attack, more definition, basically juicing up a bland amp tone.
First – one of the biggest names in modern thrash, Josh Middleton (who just yesterday schooled you on how to sweep pick) from the most excellent Sylosis gives you some insight into his Maxon OD808 (featured in our OD shootout from earlier this week):
Simple, but extremely effective.
