It’s been a while since we’ve gotten some content from Animals as Leaders guitar hero Tosin Abasi, who is widely considered one of modern guitar playing’s pioneers. His last set of lessons courtesy of Total Guitar covered hammering-on, plucking, and a bit of two-handed tapping, while these two new videos, albeit brief, cover more two-handed tapping theory as well as what Abasi calls “Swybrid” picking.
Swybrid is a mixture of sweeping and hybrid picking, which allows you to access intervals which are normally outside the scope of normal single-note sweeps. The effect is pretty cool – it looks a bit like banjo chicken pickin, but on a clean guitar sounds more like a harp.
