The most-oft overlooked part of the drum kit is the toms. Because the kick and snare are omnipresent, we spend the most time focusing in on those, where the toms are generally only heard transitorily.

So it’s cool that Glenn took this whole video to give you some sound advice on recording them. It’s a little more sparse than his others in the series, as he seems to think it’s a easier piece of the kit to record.

I personally would have liked a somewhat more in-depth look at tuning the toms, but Glenn makes up for it with a shootout of mics at the end.
