Revocation Hired Ash Pearson, And Now He Wants Bands to Hire YOU

Although we were sad to see Phil Dubois leave Revocation, we were stoked that the band had chosen to hire Ash Pearson, one of the great young drummers who also happens to have experience filling in for a great drummer who quit his band, Alexei Rodriguez of 3 Inches of Blood.

What you might not know about Ash is that his audition history reads like a who’s-who of great bands of the last decade: in addition to landing the 3 Inches of Blood and recent Revocation gig, he was in the running to replace Chris Pennie in the Dillinger Escape Plan in 2007, when he was barely 20 years old. From the time he was a kid, he was seeking out meeting and learning from his idols, which culminated in drum tech-ing and touring with Gene Hoglan when he was a teenager.

Ash has really had quite a career so far, and has a lot to offer young drummers in way of advice about meeting people, joining bands, auditioning for bands, and dealing with all sorts of personalities and musical styles. So I was excited to see that Drumeo had posted a lengthy lesson and conversation with Ash, with a focus on addressing how you can actually successfully audition for a band. Check it out below:
