Tosin Abasi, the wizard himself, descended the mountaintop on which he shreditates to bring us philistines a massive pickup shootout. As you may have heard, Fishman is dishing out signature pickup sets left and right this year, and Tosin scored himself one. Apparently, he’s like, really good or something.
To accomodate the variety of tones he uses in Animals As Leaders, the versatility of his Fishman Fluence pickups really comes into play here. Now, I’m under the impression Tosin could make a shovel and rubber bands sound sick as fuck, but there’s some seriously unmatched clarity in the Fluences that is insane. You can hear how they compare to Bare Knuckles, Duncans, and Dimarzios in a handful of tonal situations:
Well, there you have it. Fishman doesn’t pay me to hock their shit, but you’d have to question my sanity, or at least my taste in tone, if I told you those weren’t the best goddamn sounding pickups of the bunch. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not ripping out my Bare Knuckles or anything just yet. Fluences do require battery power, and I ain’t about that life.
