Our pals in Fin’amor are making some serious moves. The Brooklyn band just dropped Forbidding Mourning, an epic doom metal opus that’s receiving high praise from the likes of MetalSucks and Decibel Magazine.
Forbidding Mourning is a sprawling piece of work, full of a dense variety of clean and sludgy guitar tones, keyboard atmospherics, melodic piano passages, and the kind of freezing-cold riffs you’d only find in the Frostbitten Forrest Hills of Queens, New York.
We caught up with guitarists Raphael Pinsker and Julian Chuzhik and asked them a simple question: how do you make such dark, foreboding music? What sorts of boutique effects and vintage amplifiers are necessary for this branch of evil? We captured their answer, along with their rigs, in the following clip. Check it:
