AENIMUS – “My Becoming” Guitar Playthrough = You’ll Becoming Too

All puns aside though, prepare for NorCal’s Aenimus to drop their most fully realized work yet, as indicated by what I’m hearing in this playthrough of their track “My Becoming”. What they’re apparently becoming, is more diverse and melodic without losing a drop of intensity. With the addition of guest vocals by Mike Semesky on this track, some more careful songwriting, and some meaty production, Aenimus are set to dominate their genre.

Here’s some info from the band about the song:

A while ago we all decided that this next album should be a concept album. Even though our last album, Transcend Reality, was also based on a concept. The concept of this album is based on three horror characters and the books they were mentioned in. The books we are taking inspiration from are The Shining, It, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal. Since all of these works have been made into TV series and movies there will be some influence from those, but the lyrics are mainly based on the novels. There will be three songs per horror character and each song will be from a different perspective based on the characters in the novels. My Becoming is the first song we have released from our upcoming album called Dreamcatcher and it is based on the novel Red Dragon as well as part from the TV series, Hannibal. The perspective of this song was based around the main antagonist, Francis Dolarhyde. The song is describing the struggle the character is having with his split personality between himself and the killer inside him which he has called the great red dragon. Each chorus is a murder and the bridge is when he is finally transforms. There are subtle nods to both the novel and the TV series, but we wanted the lyrics to still have some ambiguity so that each listener may take something different away. We are excited to show the rest of the album being that we are all big fans of the novels, but that will be all in due time.
