Although this isn’t the first mechanism to achieve this particular effect, the new Pitch-Key device allows you to tune a single string up or down on your guitar a preset amount with a flick of the wrist. It’s unique in its placement (on the string itself at the headstock) and the way it pitches the string up or down, as you can see in the video below, and unlike the EVH D-Tuna or Hipshot Xtender, it actually bends the string behind the nut. You can preset the amount of pitch change you want, and then turn the key to tune it as fast as you can get your hand up there.
So if you don’t use a locking nut, and you’re changing tunings often onstage, the Pitch-Key might be worth looking into.
