In March we reviewed the Strandberg Boden OS 7 string, which we loved, and Gollum hated. It seemed the obvious choice for them to test the waters of an import version with what I imagine is their most popular model and format, but many were chomping at the bit for a 6 string model (and an 8 as well, which I’d guess is in the works unless Ola hates money).
Now the time has come for those of the 6-string persuasion to have their day in the sun – the Boden OS 6 is upon us. It is available direct from the Strandberg website for $1895, same price as the 7 string model. The 6 is available in the same color and fretboard options as the 7 (red, black, or natural with birdseye maple or rosewood) but come with Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB pickups instead of the EMG 707Xs. The multiscale neck has a more gentle fan than the 7, with a 25.5 – 25″ slope for a total change of only a half inch. That should give it a sort of Strat feel on the bottom and a PRS/Gibson feel on the top, a pretty nice idea if you ask me. More on that when I actually get one in my hands to try!
