JOE SATRIANI demos the DiMarzio Satch Track Neck & Mo’ Joe Pickups

A man that needs no introduction is a man to be revered (or despised, depending). Joe Satriani is one such man. You might have to introduce him to your non-guitarist friends, but you’d be surprised – I’ve met many a non-musician (girls even!) who love Satch – and who couldn’t? His expressive, outside the box tone, virtuoso mastery, and accessible compositional style have been at the forefront of instrumental music for years.

After working with DiMarzio for several years on the design, they released his signature mini-humbucker, the Satch Track, last year. He recently sat down to give some insight into his mindset and thoughts on the design of the pickup, and give us a taste of what they sound like in different contexts.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
