Ibanez has teamed up with Taiwainese session player Sam Shinye Chung for a brand new demo of the 5-string MDM1605.
At the core of MDM1605 instrument is a Roasted Maple neck, heat-treated for increased stability, durability, and resistance to humidity and temperature changes. The neck is paired with a Rosewood fretboard featuring 24 medium stainless steel frets, white dot inlays, luminescent side markers, and a comfortable 34″ scale length.
The body combines an Alder back with a figured Poplar Burl top, offering a balanced tonal foundation with plenty of resonance and visual appeal. Ibanez also includes a detachable finger ramp, giving fingerstyle players an optional ergonomic aid for faster, more controlled playing.
Electronics center around a pair of Ibanez Delta S5J passive pickups. While they retain the clarity and articulation associated with single-coil designs, the pickups utilize a hum-canceling design to minimize unwanted noise while maintaining an aggressive, balanced voice across the frequency spectrum.
Tone shaping comes courtesy of the Ibanez Sonitech S preamp, which features a three-band EQ, a push/pull EQ bypass switch for passive operation, and a three-way mid-frequency selector with the company’s Hexa Mid system, allowing players to fine-tune their midrange response for a variety of musical styles.
Additional appointments include the MR5S bridge with 18mm string spacing, lightweight Aero-light machine heads, black hardware, and a factory setup with D’Addario EXL165 strings plus a .130 low B. The MDM1605 also ships with a gig bag, making it ready for the studio, rehearsal room, or the road right out of the box.
