Minions have been inescapable ever since their introduction in the Despicable Me movie over a decade ago. And not just in the movies either – they’re all over social media, in memes, commercials, and probably slowly invading your actual thoughts. That’s just how it goes. Now Fender has teamed up with the animation studio Illumination to create a handful of custom Minion guitars, all of whose proceeds will go to music education programs in Los Angeles.
“Continuing the Fender Play Foundation’s mission to equip, educate and inspire the next generation of players, we’ve teamed with the Fender Custom Shop and acclaimed animation studio Illumination on four bespoke, masterbuilt instruments. All proceeds from these unique Minions creations will support the FPF’s music education programs with students in Los Angeles.”
The guitars are:
- StratoStuart, Masterbuilt Stratocaster by Kyle McMillin ($48,000)
- Otto’s Moon Bass, Masterbuilt Bass by Ron Thorn ($50,000)
- Kosmic Kevin, Masterbuilt Acoustic by Gonzalo Madrigal ($71,500)
- The King Bob, Masterbuilt Ukulele by Dennis Galuszka ($50,000)
