BARING TEETH – Exclusive Guitar Playthroughs

Baring Teeth, as you are about to discover, are a truly insane band. This is musical dissonance on a whole other level. In these videos, guitarist Andrew Hawkins displays an unearthly knack for drawing out the most terrifying noises from his Fender American Deluxe HSS Strat, hardly a common choice for death metal.

Finding ever new ways to make gnarly dissonance is actually a lot harder than it seems – uncoupling yourself from thousands of years of diatonic harmony and traditional structure is like opting out of the human race and deciding you prefer the company of insects. Andrew’s guitar parts reflect this attitude and kudos to him for finding a new avenue of expression.

Both the songs below are from the band’s newest album “Ghost Chorus Among Old Ruins“, available now on Willowtip Records. He is playing through a Traynor Bass Mate head, Orange 4×12, and MXR Zakk Wylde OD.

Be sure to check back next week, when we will be premiering more playthroughs from the band.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
