Hailing all the way from San Francisco lies one of California’s best-kept secrets. No, we’re not talking about wine-infused avocado toast (more on that later), we’re talking about progressive metal act Raiju, who have been going strong since 2013! The 5-piece band are gearing up for the release of their sophomore album Non-Sequitur which drops March 19th, 2019, and to help prepare you, we’ve teamed up with them to release this exclusive music video for their track “The Hive”, only right here, on Gear Gods!
Now, as a massive fanboy of bands like Between The Buried And Me and Protest The Hero, these dudes hit a chord that just resonates with my proggy nerd brain in the best way possible. There’s so much going on here that the song warrants multiple listens to truly appreciate everything that’s happening. From the soaring vocals from singer Scott Wagner to the intricate and crushing riffs of guitarists Bobby Carroll and Sean Johnson, there’s simply a ton of stuff that’s just plain interesting as fuck. And as far as the music video goes (directed by the talented Rob Watkins of Watkins Media, by the way), the performance showcases the band in their absolute element, which is a total joy to see.
Be sure to pre-order Non-Sequitur over on the band’s website, as well as follow Raiju on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for maximum prog goodness.
