Long Island-based post-metal band Cryptodira have been hard at work gearing up for their latest US tour with Veil of Maya, Intervals, and Strawberry Girls. Having released their full-length album The Devil’s Despair in 2017 (via Good Fight Music), the 4-piece group have just dropped this killer playthrough by drummer Matthew Taibi for the track “Negation Consumes Itself”. Check it!
If there’s one thing I love, it’s progressive metal tunes that are able to incorporate other styles of music while staying cohesive and memorable throughout, and that’s exactly what the Cryptodira guys have done here. Taibi is able to switch seamlessly between each section with ease, all the while staying focused on the groove and being the driving force behind the tune. Also, mad props for the TGM tattoo!
