New Jersey-based metal act Etherius are a band you are going to be hearing more and more about. Founded in 2017 by guitarist Jay Tarantino after recording and touring with virtuoso guitarist Angel Vivaldi, the instrumental group quickly gained popularity in the New Jersey metal scene, and in no time at all had begun the recording process for their debut EP Thread of Life. Luckily for us, they were kind enough to share some of the behind-the-scenes goodness that went into the bass on the EP, having shown us drums before, and guitars soon to come!

Enjoy this fun behind-the-scenes of bassist Chris Targia tracking bass with the inimitable Angel Vivaldi, and pre-order Thread of Life, out August 24th on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and Google Play Music.

Chris had the following to say about the production:

Main bass used:

Carvin LB75 5-string bass (formerly owned by God Forbid bassist John Outcalt)

Also used:

Carvin LB76F 6-string fretless bass

ESP LTD B-206SM 6-string bass

We recorded everything direct, so all the amping and effects were done in post.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
