Now, Rings of Saturn may not be my kind of music per se, but I know that plenty of people who read this site have been clamoring for more news about Verb the Noun and Noun of Noun bands, so we’re gonna give it to ya!
Starting with this dual guitar playthrough for Rings of Saturn’s song “Godless” off their new record Lugal Ki En. Guitarists Lucas Mann and Miles Dimitri Baker have some serious chops, and have clearly worked hard to get those harmonized arpeggios in tune and in sync. They also mention towards the end that a tab book is in the works, for all of you young Saturn Ringers out there.
I don’t quite get the whole clock motif, but maybe that’s because I’m not a fan of the band – can anyone enlighten to me as to what’s that’s about?

My guess the clock is there to show they are doing it in real time. This band caught some shit for supposedly recording an album at half speed a couple years ago.

They recorded it note by note because Lucas likes the way that recording technique sounds. He is a competent player. A major asshole, but he can play the music that he puts out.

he probably recorded it note by note because of all his speed comes from legato playing, and recording it one note at a time produces the staccato that sounds familiar to actually picking all the notes. legato speed playing is very easy compared to picking each note out. not saying that as a demeaning thing, but being cocky about legato playing is silly. and over doing it is a little in bad taste. but to each their own.

I wouldn’t say legato is tremendously easier, you’ve still gotta mute properly, but when you use lame headwraps like the djenters do I agree it’s a cop out.
