Denver-based mathcore act Kenaima dropped their debut EP Haste back in October of 2017, and one of the biggest bangers they produced was a song called “From The Gut”. Well, we are pleased to announce that the band has just released this full-band playthrough for that very track! Watch, listen, and be amazed, only right here, on Gear Gods!
If there’s one word to encapsulate everything happening during this tune, it might be “explosive”. From the dissonant guitar parts of Dave Sandoval to the chaotic rhythm sections of drummer Jeff Malpezzi and bassist Clayton Whitelaw, the trio comes together to form a spastic-yet-cohesive experience that is sure to please fans of hardcore and experimental metal alike. And that isn’t proof of how enjoyable these guys are to listen to, they even brought in a whole party of people to rock out while they power through this relentless jam. I’m only disappointed in the fact that I didn’t get an invite.
About the tune, here’s what the guys had to say:
“‘From The Gut’ is actually a song about the time singer/guitarist Dave Sandoval had a horrible stomach virus that he thought would kill him. We tried to keep this information hidden from the public, but if you read the lyrics, it absolutely makes sense. Not a whole lot of metaphor in the song, just lots of imagery.”
“It’s funny, we started off just shooting a playthrough, but it ended up turning into a party with all our homies, so we had to throw some of that in the video. Good times.” -Dave Sandoval
