I’ve never heard of a pedal playthrough before, but I guess that’s what the kids are calling it nowadays when a (great) pedal company like Pro Tone shoots and edits performance videos of bands who record using their equipment.
Up on the chopping block today is guitarist Andy Thomas of the much-vaunted Black Crown Initiate, ripping through “Withering Waves” and “Initiate to the Eye that Leads You” off last year’s The Wreckage of Stars. All of Andy’s parts for these videos (and I presume the album, but that’s unclear) were recorded using Pro Tone’s Jeff Loomis Signature Overdrive pedal. Definitely curious to hear how this guitar tone cuts through live.
