Caparison is a Japanese company that makes guitars for the likes of Michael Romeo (Symphony X), Joel Stroetzel (Killswitch Engage), Phil Campbell (Motorhead), Matthew Wicklund (God Forbid/Ghost Ship Octavius), and Matt Perrin (Threat Signal). Their signature is the “devil’s tail” headstock, which gives their guitars a look that’s pointy enough for metal, but curvy enough to have some elegance.
Back in June we clued you into what might be the first recorded instance of someone playing a guitar with a comb. That man was Mattias “IA” Eklundh of the Swedish band Freak Kitchen, and the guitar was a pre-production model of the Applehorn 8. At the time there was no word as to whether or not they were going to make a production model, or if this was just a giant cock-tease (note the hyphen placement). But, Japanese saints be praised, they have finally relented and the announcement has been made that it is now available to order.
I personally think it’s about time they made an 8 string, and it looks like they put some thought into this one.
