Gibson and Slash have teamed up to create the new Gibson Slash “Jessica” Les Paul Standard, capturing all the magic of Slash’s most-used-live Les Paul.
The Jessica offers a non-weight-relieved Mahogany body and pickguard-less 3-piece Plain Maple top to match the same specs of the original “Jessica” Les Paul Standard Gibson sent Slash in 1988. The Jessica offers a Rosewood-topped ’50s Vintage Mahogany neck, dual uncovered Burstbucker Alnico 2 pickups, Slash-approved Schaller strap locks, vintage deluxe Keystone tuners, and a custom Slash-signature truss rod cover.
“This guitar has been with me since 1988,” said Slash of the original guitar. “It’s faded, I fucking dropped a cigarette on it… I named it when I was drunk but I don’t remember what the catalyst for that was!”
On using the guitar live for over three decades, Slash added: “Both of ’em were pretty identical, with a bright Cherry Sunburst. I started using those on the road for a while, then I had them refinished so that they were a little duller. And that became my main stage guitar and the backup all the way through Guns N’ Roses and on through Velvet Revolver, and now with Guns again.”
