Gibson is going hard as hell on their new pickups in 2023. The brand just released 22 updated pickup styles in the Historic, Original and Modern Collections, as well as the new Artist and Kramer Collections, which breaks down to the following new releases.
First up is the Gibson Pickup Shop Original Collection, which offers a handful of brand new P-90 and ’57 Classic Underwound pickups alongside a brand new Thunderbird bass pickup reissue. They are:

- P-90 Soapbar Underwound (Black cover, 2-conductor, Potted, 7.2k, Alnico 3)

Though if you’re not too into the whole “vintage” thing, there’s also a handful of new pickups in the Gibson Pickup Shop Modern Collection. Much like the Original Collection, the Modern Collection also offers new P-90 and Thunderbird pickups, as well as a new Dirty Fingers SM.

Then there’s the new offerings in Gibson Pickup Shop Historic Collection, which is all about the Custombucker Underwound.

And then finally there’s the one that everyone been talking about, the Greenybucker. The Greenybucker is modeled heavily after the legendary “Greeny” Les Paul and was developed with input from Greeny’s current owner, Kirk Hammett. The Greenybuckers were developed with specifications taken from the actual Patent Applied For humbucker pickups on that world-renowned guitar, including asymmetrical coil windings and unpolished Alnico 2 magnets.
Gibson caps things off with a more metal offering, which is the brand new Kramer Eruption series in the Gibson Pickup Shop Kramer Collection. The Kramer Eruption is a high-output humbucker pickup featuring Alnico 5 magnets, 4 wire leads coil splitting, and short leg baseplates.
