Dave Mustaine of Megadeth fame signed to Gibson back in 2021 and we’ve gotten a few different models thus far. There’s been a Flying V signature model, a handful of Kramer Vanguard models, and a Mustaine signature Gibson acoustic model. Still, there’s also been long-standing rumors of an Explorer Mustaine model, as well as a Les Paul signature.
On the fabled 24-fret Les Paul, Mustaine said he and Gibson are working on that and a few more. Though he doesn’t give any concrete timeframes on when we can expect to see ’em.
“I love what’s going on with my Gibson relationship. I look at a lot of that stuff,” said Mustaine in a recent interview with Guitarist. “We’re doing some models, like the Flying V with 24 frets, and we’ve talked about a couple of others and are making them perfect. One of those is the Dave Mustaine Les Paul. It will play like a beast, be a 24-fret guitar, and have the heel shaved down.”
Not much is known about the signature Mustaine Les Paul aside from a single 2022 photo posted by his guitar tech Bryan Jones, which has since been removed (except for the below screenshot). In the meantime, you can at least check out what Mustaine has to offer right here.
