Although I love Remo heads and have run down several of their practice pads over the years, I was always constrained by how piercingly loud the thing is. It’s great for really having a tough surface to hit (in particular for an ankle-weight kind of training, in which you get minimal bounce back and have to work harder), but just too loud to practice if you have roommates/neighbors/parents/little sister.
Silent analog drum products are really “in” this year, and Remo is throwing their hat in the ring with a version of their Silent Stroke head, except on a practice pad. Genius, right? I’m honestly shocked no one thought of this before. Check it out!
