If there’s one instrument that’s built for shredding, it’s the guitar. But what about other stringed instruments? Well, YouTuber Steve Terreberry (AKA “Stevie T”) has set out to answer the age-old question: can you shred on a ukelele?
If you thought it just wasn’t possible, you may want to do some rethinking. While the ukelele may have less strings than a guitar and is considerably smaller, Stevie is able to squeeze some serious shreds out of it in this video. Taking it through the many trials of the Shred Test (patent pending), Stevie demonstrates various riffs, pinch harmonics, slides, and string skipping. He even ventures into black metal territory with some tremelo picking. And wouldn’t you know it, his ukelele triumphs through it all!
