Belphegor Was in Erik Rutan’s Studio Tracking Conjuring the Dead, and they Have the Footage to Prove it.

How have I gone all this time without posting any in-studio footage of a band tracking with Mana Studios’ engineer (and Hate Eternal/ex-Morbid Angel/ex-Ripping Corpse guitarist) Erik Rutan? The man has been behind the board for albums by Cannibal Corpse, Soilent Green, Nile, Tombs, Ephel Duath, and so many other amazing bands. Well, this Belphegor video is a good place to start making amends.

But besides getting brief glimpses at Mana’s wall of amplifiers and AMEK Mozart 56 mixing console, there’s also plenty of playthrough footage of Belphegor drummer Marthyn and bassist Serpenth playting through tunes from the new record. So if you want to see footage of the band tracking “Black Winged Torment” or “Gasmask Terror,” look no further than the video below.

Chris Alfano has written about music and toured in bands since print magazines and mp3.com were popular. Once in high-school he hacked a friend's QBasic stick figure fighting game to add a chiptune metal soundtrack. Random attractive people still give him high-fives about that.

  • Used to love these guys, but I’ve never seen a less enthusiastic studio video.
Their drummer may be a human metronome, but he seems to only know 3 beats.
