Demise of The Crown are possibly Montreal’s best kept secret, combining hard-hitting songwriting and headcrushing riffage with blinding shred, but never tastelessly and always seamlessly. An original harsh vocal style the likes of which I have never encountered gives way to angelic singing at times and the guitar solos seem effortlessly composed and executed. They’re like an amalgam of every style of modern metal without sounding like a mish-mash – impressive.
