You’re all aware that Periphery masterminds Adam Nolly, Matt Halpern, and Misha Mansoor have teamed up to create a drum sample company, GetGood Drums, right? I’ve been messing around with Matt’s signature pack and these really sound phenomenal – now I just need to get better at programming.
I’m sure you could use some pointers too, so why not learn from the master himself? Nolly has just released a pretty thorough tutorial about how to program realistic sounds with the Matt Halpern samples. In particular, the emphasis of this clip is on how to work on the velocity of your hits. It’s also pleasing just to listen to Nolly’s voice for a while – would love if he did some audiobooks.
