We’ve been getting excited here at Gear Gods HQ for the new Windhand record, Grief’s Infernal Flower. The album, produced by the legendary Jack Endino of Nirvana, Soundgarden and High on Fire fame, captures the band’s enrapturing sound, full of deep guitar tones and soaring, dark vocal melodies.
A big part of Windhand’s sound is the steady, assured grooves of drummer Ryan Wolfe, who keeps the band’s heavy ship afloat amid their sea of slow-burn guitar riffs. So when we caught up with the band at the Gibson New York Showroom, we asked Ryan to demonstrate some of his favorite grooves off the record.
In the following, Ryan shows off the monstrous backbone beat of “Crypt Key.” The song is great and I’m sure you guys are gonna dig Ryan’s chops. Check it out below:
Grief’s Infernal Flower drops on September 18th via Relapse. Pre-order it here.
