Guitarist Plini and bassist/engineer Simon Grove recently got together to talk about Plini’s recording guitar tone in the studio! In the tutorial, Grove goes over how he dialed in Plini’s signature guitar tone using the new Archetype: Plini guitar plugin by Neural DSP. Things like distortion, gain settings, reverb, compression, and EQ are all talked about in the context of a typical Plini song mix, and Grove’s explanations for why he chose to do certain things are spot-on. Even if you’re not a mix engineer, it’s fascinating to hear him talk about these things in a practical and useful way and to hear what’s going on in the soloed guitar clips.
