New Jersey native Steve Dadaian is clearly a dude who is no stranger to working hard, making contacts, and perfecting his craft to a level that most of us can only hope to achieve. Even during his time as a student at Columbia University in New York City, Steve continued to grind away at his dream of one day becoming the highly regarded artist that he is today. At just the fresh age of 21 Dadaian participated in (and ranked highly in) national guitar competitions hosted by Slash, John Petrucci, and Jon Donais. He also performed at several events along the side of such names as Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Nicko McBrain.
Steve’s sound features some super impressive soloing techniques as well as theatrical and symphonic soundscapes, and some super catchy melodies that will be stuck in your head for weeks after listening. There is no better example of this sound than that featured on his new track “Red River” which is taken from his soon to be released full length, Follow the Light, which also features a fantastic drum performance by Ryan Bertone. This video features a really cool dual angle take on the aforementioned track and showcases many of Dadaian’s trademark moves. After the opening movie soundtrack-esque track “The Journey Ahead” little time is wasted. Follow the Light explodes into the metal/jazz fusion title track “Follow The Light”, and continues to bloom with the orchestral influenced piece “Forest Requiem” along with fantastic more traditional metal compositions like “Soul Connection”.
Concerning the concept of Follow the Light Steve Dadaian says:
“The story follows a mage who has been wandering in a forest in search of a citadel which has been considered folklore. The title Follow The Light refers to the light emanated from the top of the citadel he eventually finds. Though he felt lost, it was actually this light that drew him to his destination”
Follow The Light comes out on February 1st and can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon now.
Steve Dadaian endorses DR strings, ESP Guitars, Synergy Amps, and Lunastone pedals. Dadaian will appear at the Winter NAMM Show 2019, where he will perform tracks from his new album at the DR Strings booth (4214 Hall D) on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 AM. During the performance, Dadaian will utilize a variety of the company’s product lines – such as Tite-fit and DDT (Drop Down Tuning) strings.
