Hailing all the way from the far reaches of Vancouver, BC, progressive metal outfit KOSM have just put out this official guitar playthrough for their track “The Esoteric Order” off their debut album Cosmonaut. Featuring Mike Slater and Erik Leonhard holding down the guitar parts, the song truly has something for every fan of progressive music out there. Watch and be amazed, only right here, on Gear Gods!
Being the third single from the band’s debut album, this tune combines a few different prog rock and metal influences into one seamless package. Groove-based riffs, technical yet memorable guitar parts, all wrapped up by vocalist Jessie Grace’s soaring vocal lines, this track is a good representation of the wide world of progressive music.
About the track, the band had this to say:
“‘The Esoteric Order’ is the third single off of KOSM’s progressive-metal debut Cosmonaut (2018). Combining concepts from the cosmic-horror of H.P. Lovecraft and classic science-fiction, the album and song tell the story of a cosmonaut’s transformative journey through time and space.”
In terms of gear (welcome to Gear Gods, by the way), here is the down-low on what the chaps are using:
“Guitarists Mike Slater and Erik Leonhard play Kiesel and PRS guitars respectively, using a blend of Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifiers and Scuffham Digital Amps. Ambient sounds heard at the end of the track are created with a combination of the El Capistan dTape Delay pedal by Strymon and the Afterneath Reverb pedal by Earthquaker Devices.”
