Brutai come out swinging straight from the beautiful sunny United Kingdom; watch this drum playthrough by drummer Mathieu Bauer of the band’s prog/metal track “Of Ashes”.
Some serious concentration drummer faces are going on here by Mathieu, but to be fair I don’t blame him cuz this track looks pretty damn tricky. Add to that some cheeky little stick tricks, and you have to say that Mathieu has got his shit together.
His band Brutai have recently played the famous Download Festival at Donington Park and have been nominated for “Best New Band” at the Metal Hammer awards, so it’s safe to say it’s been a mad month for the young band. Their debut album, aptly titled Born, is also out now, so go give it your time as it’s definitely worth it. It looks like it’s just a sign of things to come, so definitely keep an eye for these dudes because they seemed to be destined for great things.
Mathieu describes his drum playing by what’s written on his t-shirt – “raw” – and claims not to have any particular style but instead just plays with as much feeling and passion as he can. He also plays the following;
