Strymon is channeling the magic of the Echoplex EP-2 with their brand new EC-1 Single Head dTape Echo pedal.
The EC-1 Single Head dTape Echo uses the single moving head algorithm originally developed for the Strymon El Capistan pedal, which is renowned for its lifelike reproduction of vintage tape echo. The EC-1 was based on an Echoplex EP-2 worked on by storied technician Cesar Diaz, which sounded a little closer to an EP-3.
The EC-1 Single Head dTape Echo offers selectable tube-modeled preamp voices, artifact-free tap tempo, discrete stereo operation for independent processing of the left and right stereo inputs, and straightforward controls and expression pedal capability. The pedal also brings a high-impedance, ultra-low noise discrete Class A JFET stereo input preamp for exceptional touch sensitivity, dynamics and feel, MIDI control of tempo, patch save/recall, and more.
