More Metal Month: Ola Englund and Rivers of Nihil Demo New ToonTrack Packs

Am I the only one who is mesmerized by Ola’s tattoo arm, I mean, picking hand? It seems his disproportionate amount of ink per side doesn’t slow him down, and in fact seems to grant him superhuman picking abilities. He never fails to bring the heavy and always seems to have crushing tone. But it’s cool to see him sort of limited to some presets for the sake of demoing the new ToonTrack Made of Metal EZDrummer 2 expansion and the Metal Guitar Gods 2 EZMix2 expansion, both of which have been released as part of Metal Month. This also seems not to have any adverse effect, and has the desired effect of showing the versatility and blistering tones of the expansions.

Also below you will find tech-death beardos Rivers of Nihil employing the same strategy to equally brutal effect, but this time with vocals so you can hear how it sounds in a full mix. Their song “Place of Serpents” translates well to ToonTrack version. I encourage you to compare the two versions for reference.

I don’t know if it can be done any better than these two, but look soon for the Gear Gods demo and review of both of these products coming soon to a website near you.

As Editor-in-Chief of Gear Gods, I've been feeding your sick instrument fetishism and trying unsuccessfully to hide my own since 2013. I studied music on both coasts (Berklee and SSU) and now I'm just trying to put my degree to some use. That's a music degree, not an English one. I'm sure you noticed.
