Gibson is giving anyone who’s ever wanted a longer scale Les Paul exactly what they want. Enter the Gibson Les Paul Custom Long Scale, whose name really couldn’t market what it is better than it does right now.

While the Gibson Les Paul Custom Long Scale retains the unmistakable look, feel, and craftsmanship of a classic Les Paul Custom, this version replaces the traditional 24.75″ scale length with a 25.5″ scale, offering increased string tension, improved clarity, and enhanced stability for lower tunings without sacrificing the instrument’s character.

Construction stays true to the Les Paul formula, pairing a solid Mahogany body with a carved Maple top for the rich sustain and punch that have defined the model for decades. A set Mahogany neck carved to a comfortable Modern Medium C profile is topped with a bound Ebony fingerboard featuring 22 frets and Mother-of-Pearl block inlays, blending timeless Custom styling with a playing experience that feels fast and smooth.

Electronics are equally well suited to modern rock and metal. A covered 496R neck humbucker and 498T bridge humbucker provide a hot-rodded take on Gibson’s classic humbucking voice, delivering everything from warm, articulate cleans to saturated distortion with plenty of upper-mid bite and sustain. Both pickups are wax potted to minimize unwanted feedback, making them equally comfortable on high-gain stages and in the studio.

Premium appointments complete the package, including Gold hardware, a Tune-o-matic bridge, Stopbar tailpiece, and Grover Rotomatic tuners for dependable tuning stability and precise intonation.

Traditional Les Paul Custom touches, such as the black pickguard and black Speed knobs, preserve the model’s elegant, understated aesthetic, resulting in an instrument that feels every bit like a Custom Shop Les Paul — just with a little more reach, a little more tension, and a more modern edge.

Between this and the recent Victory models with the Floyd Roses, I’m guessing Gibson is leaning into the metal world a little more than they have been.

The Gibson Les Paul Custom Long Scale is available at the links below for $5,799. Personally, I’m hoping we get an Epiphone version of this at some point:
