Gibson has added a new model to its revived Victory series: the Victory Baritone, a 28″ scale instrument built for players who want to explore lower tunings for that extra chunk.
The Victory line made its return in 2024, with the original Victory and Victory Figured Top winning over both new players and fans of the brand’s 1980s-era originals thanks to their double-cutaway shape and comfortable feel. The Baritone builds on that foundation while pushing into new sonic territory, sitting somewhere between a standard electric guitar and a bass.
The body is Mahogany, carrying the updated Victory contours for comfort and balance, and it’s paired with a glued-in Mahogany neck. The neck features a Rounded profile and a compound radius Ebony fretboard with 24 medium jumbo frets and acrylic dot inlays. Unlike the standard Victory models, the Baritone drops the pickguard altogether, relying on rear-mounted electronics for a cleaner look.
Up top, the Explorer-style headstock houses a Graph Tech nut and Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners for tuning stability, while chrome hardware rounds out the build with a fully adjustable Tune-O-Matic bridge and a Stop Bar tailpiece.
Driving the tone are two newly developed Gibson ELEV8 humbuckers, built with Alnico 8 magnets and custom-gauge wiring for tight low end and strong note separation. The electronics package includes push-pull master volume and tone controls for coil-splitting and inner/outer coil selection, plus a three-way pickup selector, giving players a wide spread of tones from full humbucker output to brighter single-coil voicings.
The Victory Baritone ships strung with .013-.062″ light gauge baritone strings, tuned B to B, and comes with a Gibson hardshell case. The Victory Baritone is available now in Graphite Metallic and British Racing Green finishes here for $2,499.
