CATALINBREAD’s Adineko Ghost Is A Delay Pedal Possessed

Catalinbread’s Adineko Ghost channels the energy of vintage oil-can units and reanimates it with an eerie new twist. Based on the much-loved original Adineko, this updated version retains the rich, warbly textures that made it a cult classic, but introduces a new spectral layer in the form of the Ghost control.

At the heart of the Adineko Ghost is the Ghost knob, which adds a densely-filtered octave-up signal directly into the delay line. At low settings, it brings a touch of haunting modulation. Crank it up, and the pedal descends into chaotic, glitchy territory with digital bleeps and bloops that seem to stretch the delay into another dimension.

The Reverb control, actually a feedback knob, ranges from tight, clean echoes to wild, self-oscillating loops when maxed out. It’s perfect for creating cinematic swells or sending your signal into spiraling madness.

The Timing knob lets you dial in anything from short slapback delays to long, washy echoes, maintaining the same range as the original Adineko. Meanwhile, the Blend control balances your dry input with the effect, allowing you to keep things grounded or let the ghost take over completely.

Unique to the Adineko’s design is its dual delay line architecture, now fully haunted. The Balance knob lets you mix between a faster and slower delay line – each reacting differently to the Ghost effect. Set it all the way counterclockwise to hear only the fast line, clockwise for the slower one, or center it for a rich blend of both, which delivers the most complex and immersive results.

Even with the spectral enhancements, the Adineko Ghost stays true to its roots. Roll the Ghost control back to zero and it delivers that beautifully degraded oil-can delay that first put the original on the map. But for players who want their echoes to speak in tongues this pedal offers a rare mix of vintage soul and otherworldly weirdness.
