I love my EVH 5150 III amp. It’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made in a piece of gear – beautiful clean tones, attack-y dirt tones, and the most insane drive channel I’ve ever heard. So I’m curious about the latest stompbox to cause a craze among metal musicians: the 5150 Overdrive.
Dunlop describes the pedal as combining “hand-adjusted multi-stage MOSFETs with a full complement of controls to deliver overdriven tube-like tones and exceptional sonic flexibility through a wide variety of amps and speaker cabinets.” And it sounds pretty sick, according to some demos I’ve heard online – like a little affordable version of the 5150 amps.
